Piana Island (23 m high) can ideally be considered as the link between Stintino Peninsula, bordered to the north by Capo Falcone and the island of Asinara. Its name comes from the flatness and surface low and steady. It is close to nearby beaches of Pelosa and Pelosetta, of Stintino. The island is bordered to the NE, by the small island called La Pelosa, which houses a tower dating from the late sixteenth century, the destination of many swimmers who flock to the beach of the same name Stintino.
From Cala Murona, northwest of Piana island, you can admire a beautiful landscape with the islet at the horizon. On its North-Eastern coast, just across the Strait of Fornelli and oriented to Asinara is the Spanish Finanza tower, which is particularly appreciated by those who see it from the sea.Navigation around the island, however, must be done with caution and attention: the rocky shoal that extends several hundred meters in front of the south-eastern part, in fact, can be dangerous. The island is accessible by boat from the Pelosa and Pelosetta beaches of Stintino. A fantastic bay, where you can spend the night at anchor in tranquility, by 4/5 m of sandy bottom with some rocks.
